“The beautiful part of writing is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, brain surgery.”

– Robert Cormier

Just an update since I’m supposed to be doing homework at the moment *snort* I received a rejection from Holy Grail last night. Personal feedback, but still a no.

My reaction. “Heh”

Entry filed under: ouch, rejection.

At least you rec’d feedback. Take a couple of days and then go back and read that over. You might find a nugget of something helpful.

    Keep submitting!

I say the one thing that helped was the editor letting me know it was a good book but not “suitable” for the line I submitted to. It’s a romantic suspense, but now that I think about it, much more graphic than what the line usually publishes.

Having that one acceptance goes a long way, doesn’t it?

Sounds like a different publisher more closely aligned with the type of story you wrote might be in order.

What’s funny is that when I first started writing I thought all you needed was a good book to get published. You still need a good book, but also an editor that believes in your writing and understands it.
